Success Story
Team D3 was called upon to update the client’s “Business User functionality and management” for their existing API web hooks, and the group functionality within the client’s existing system that was created previously by Team D3 as a customized project using Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage. The existing solution was created to automate user creation, security assignment, user management, and license management processes within their Quality Assurance Platform (Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle).
The client identified updates and refinements that needed to be made to their existing Business User Management System functionality. The updates included group approval board updates, group assignment, the removal of irregularities that had manifested over the initial stage of use, to further simplify workflows and reduce the geographical footprint that will be managed by the updated User Management Business System in the future. Finally, there was a need to expand access and capabilities for their suppliers within their existing workspaces.
The overall goal was to make the workspace more “user friendly” and to make the space more closely resemble their overall business processes. There was a need to respond with customized design to changes in and natural evolution of their User Management Business System. There was also a need for new functionality, plus there was a requirement to update from “classic to modern” features. Finally, they needed more access and capabilities for their suppliers within the workspaces.
Team D3 was called upon to update the client’s “business user functionality” addressing the customer’s expressed challenges. All Services were performed remotely and were coordinated through a Client Project Coordinator who was the primary liaison with Team D3. Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage was used to perform many of the required facets of the design and implementation aspects of the project, while specific professional services by Team D3 were used to execute and tie together the Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage project features and the related implementation thereby producing the finished project solution.
The customer, through engagement with Team D3 professional services, was able to realize a comprehensive solution that addresses and satisfies their desired functionality goals and mitigated non-value-added time associated with existing workflows through targeted refinement of those features. Updates were made to License Groups functionality to properly capture license changes and create a built-in license request email for “maxed-out” licensed groups. As well, updates to their Business User functionality for “group approval board updates” and group assignment to remove current bugs and simplify workflow were successfully achieved. From an end-user perspective, the workflow has been reduced to a single workflow state or action, meaning they only must select the workflow once in contrast to before when they had to access it twice. Technically there are only 4 workflow states now, but the win for the client company and their user community is the move to only having 1 action (workflow State) required by the end-user while all other workflow states are automated.
Team D3 administered all requested changes to the client company’s existing User Management Business System functionality and followed up with related training for both their administration team and general user community. As both their intended use and business initiatives continue to evolve in the future, Team D3 will engage with the customer for implementation of future changes, refinements, and new features. As is often the case, long-term projects are phased implementations, which is the situation in this scenario. The client company and Team D3 are now discussing and mapping the next phase of development to begin soon.
Client Testimonial
“Without Team D3 's creativity and hard work to make the User Management Workspace a reality, we would have had to employ a dedicated resource to manage the 800+ users that access the system. The team at Team D3 are very professional and great to work with.”

The Moth Wing to Sound Absorbing Acoustic Panels
The Biomimicry Alliance wanted to find an alternative method for creating sound absorption materials for application in open office work environments. They posed the question, “How would nature absorb sound?” Through investigation, they discovered the “Cabbage Tree Emperor moth” (Bunaea alcinoe) a moth species belonging to the family Saturniidae, native to Southern Africa. This unique moth can avoid its most notorious predator, a bat, and its “sonar” like ability to track its prey. The moth's wings are covered by overlapping scales that are less than (0.0098 inches) long and have a peculiar porous structure. This structure absorbs the "echolocation" sound of their predator, the bat, and thus helps them to camouflage themselves acoustically. But could The Biomimicry Alliance successfuly emulate the acoustical features of the moth’s wings and apply it to the design of acoustic panels?
Large Greenfield Expansion 2
Hargrove is a multi-discipline Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm that provides comprehensive on-site support to their clients in the energy generation, manufacturing, research and development, infrastructure, and process-heavy sectors. They have completed over 22,000 projects and served over 2,100 facilities since inception. Over the last several years margins on projects have gotten tighter and project timelines have become shorter. To meet these heightened demands, Hargrove began to realize that they needed to be able to communicate more effectively between engineering disciplines, field employees, subcontractors, and owners. Also, with the constraints imposed by the current Covid-19 pandemic, employees that are being kept out of the office are creating even greater challenges when it comes to sharing data across projects. Included in their desired enhancements is to automate data output during projects whenever possible.
Better Accuracy and Efficiency for Plastic Parts for MK Machining
Founded in 2015, MK Machining set out with the goal of delivering innovative products to the precision shooting community at an incredible value. All their products are manufactured using cutting-edge technology and materials produced here in the USA. They began a search for a solution that would help them improve productivity while decreasing labor in their manufacturing process and allow them to refine the “nesting” process of parts.
