Trimble MEP Trains Sales Engineers for Increased Retention

Trimble MEP Trains Sales Engineers for Increased Retention

Customer challenge

Trimble MEP is an MEP design services provider, contracting with their hardware and software install base to meet project deadlines. While Trimble has a high level of expertise in engineering and design, they realized that there were advanced features inside of Autodesk Revit that could greatly increase team productivity, and enhance intra-firm collaboration, and inter-firm collaboration with their key accounts.

Project goals

Trimble wanted to standardize and elevate their user's skill sets, with an eye towards increased productivity (quantity), and better project outcomes (quality). By increasing productivity with their existing crew members, project turnaround times could be decreased, enabling increased project pursuit and additional billable work, without adding headcount. In addition, better delivery would ensure client retention and positive referrals.

Solution

A two phased approach was agreed to. Phase 1 was diagnostic: all team members were given a custom, Revit essential's exam. This focused on key areas of Revit functionality, and indicated areas of opportunity for individual users. Based on the diagnostic findings, a detailed training was generated and agreed to. Phase 2 was delivery of the customized training, emphasizing advanced workflows, and bringing user skill sets up to parity.

Business outcome

Trimble MEP has increased overall team productivity, reduced project delivery times and increased their customer satisfaction. This has enabled their ability to pursue more projects, generate more proposals and work more collaboratively as a team and with their external clients.

Conclusion

By standardizing and upgrading user's skills, and learning automated tools inside the Autodesk Revit interface, Trimble is utilizing Revit in a more productive way. The addition of a diagnostic initial phase, training topics were targeted, and reduced their team's downtime. Training effectiveness was our primary concern, to increase user skill while minimizing loss of billable hours. Positive customer reviews indicate those goals were met, and exceeded.

Seiler Trains CRB Group Interns on Autodesk Revit

Over 20 summer Engineering/Architect interns were starting with no Revit training or knowledge for CRB Group.
