All of Samuel Heath products are available with a range of control options, and a variety of finishes to chose from. Their requirement was a rendered image of every product, in every finish, with every handle option. The critical element of this requirement was the fact they needed the rendered representation of various finishes to be incredibly accurate, which wasn’t an easy task as in many places the finishes are hand applied and naturally brushed.

Project goals

The initial requirement was to reduce the product development time for a new collection as photographing products at the end of production for marketing brochures was too time-consuming. Therefore, the team wanted to render the products at the start of the NPD process, this allowed marketing to prepare their documents while the products were being produced. However, the market moved on: the trend of “bespoke” products became a further driver, being able to customize products by mixing finishes and detailing. Samuel Heath prides itself on the quality of the design of the products, and the range of finished combinations available, therefore they needed to produce further rendered images which matched the detail of every of finishes they apply, every product produced, and every handle option available.

Solution

Samuel Heath currently has two seats of Autodesk VRED and the hardware required to render long variant sets to produce multiple images. Their design team has been trained to use Autodesk VRED through Autodesk Solution Provider Symetri who continue to support the team.
