S & O Construction Services standardizes on Autodesk Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection

Customer challenge

S & O Construction has successfully performed public work for 35+ years as an open shop contractor performing all phases of mechanical construction throughout New York State. Faced with increasing competition and shortened deadlines, they needed a way to increase their bottom line, despite on-going issues with the pandemic.  Their visions is ". . .to be the mechanical industry bid/spec leader, locally owned, offering the highest degree of technical and operational efficiency for publicly funded projects. We will grow our company in a balanced, healthy way. This will allow us to provide our clients with results-focused solutions. In addition, it will provide career opportunities for our employees with on-going challenges that fuel the passion behind our company."

Project goals

Seeing the need to to expand their capabilities, they wished to add a fabrication shop and get their CAD & BIM implementation fully running in less than 1 month, with minimal disruption to their current workflows.

Solution

Robotech provided remote proctored Autodesk Revit MEP training, enabling the S & O team to effectively begin to move into BIM and supplied the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection so they could continue to work with basic CAD shop drawings. The remote training allowed them to continue to do their office work, while taking a few hours of their week to work on their skills.

Business outcome

BIM enablement allowed them to attain their goal of "offering the highest degree of technical and operational efficiency for publicly funded projects".  They are also ready to efficiently utilize their new fabrication facility, with other tools in the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection.

Conclusion

As a result of of this implementation, S & O has been awarded and completed over 15 projects in 2022 from the NYS Office of General Services.

Robotech Helps Simplex Integrate Revit into their Manufacturing Process

Simplex designs and builds prefabricated houses and prefabricated modules that are stacked on-site to provide multi-story mixed use structures. A large portion of their re-useable legacy data was in AutoCAD; however, Simplex saw a developing need to be more a part of the BIM process. While having received basic Autodesk Revit training, their use of specialized components necessitated the development of custom families and procedures using as much of the existing data as possible.

MRA Provides Security and AV Telecom Infrastructure for BIM Projects with Custom Revit Training and Templates

MRA provides hospitality, gaming and mixed-use technology plans, designs, installations, integrations, commissioning, and documentation with equipment and low voltage wiring. Traditionally documentation was provided thru AutoCAD, however MRA saw a developing need to be more a part of the BIM process. While having received basic Revit training, their use of specialized components necessitated the development of custom families and procedures using as much of the existing data as possible.
