SUCCESS STORY

Robotech Helps Simplex Integrate Revit into their Manufacturing Process

Customer Challenge

Simplex designs and builds prefabricated houses and prefabricated modules that are stacked on-site to provide multi-story mixed use structures. A large portion of their re-useable legacy data was in AutoCAD; however, Simplex saw a developing need to be more a part of the BIM process. While having received basic Autodesk Revit training, their use of specialized components necessitated the development of custom families and procedures using as much of the existing data as possible.

Project Goals

Simplex needed to have a deeper understanding of Revit and the BIM process to provide BIM deliverables along with their specialized architecture and engineering that enables them to manufacture houses and modules ready to be placed on-site. Design personnel needed to be able to produce content and their estimators and project managers understand the value and time required to produce custom content.

Solution

Robotech provide basic and advanced training on Revit, followed by on-going consultation and problem solving in order to provide a more efficient workflow in their design to manufacturing process. We provided remote hands-on training and consultation, yet were able to give individual mentoring for efficient skill building at time intervals that was minimally disruptive to their normal billable workflow.

Business Outcome

Simplex was provided with custom content building skills and special procedures to put their modules into a unified BIM, facilitating approvals and streamlining their manufacturing process. Simplex can now provide BIM models quicker and have that data flow more readily into their manufacturing process

Conclusion

With on-going consultation, Robotech determined Simplex's bottlenecks to provide them with a way to reduce time and costs in their overall process. Our knowledgeable experts allowed Simplex to enhance their workflow, providing them with a much more efficient process.
