Reconstruction of Himalaya Foot Over Bridge at Chatrapati Shivaj Maharaj Terminus Station

Customer challenge

TPFEPL is one of the oldest civil engineering consulting firms in India. It provides bridge design, structural engineering, architecture and planning services. To fulfill their mission to be the best in engineering consulting, they began implementing BIM into their project workflows. The biggest challenge was to integrate the Civil 3D Intelligent Model, REVIT BIM, Advanced Steel Design Model with 3D Dynamo models and provide an optimized design solution to the client.

Project goals

The main goal of the project was to prepare accurate and detailed 3D model for both design as well as presentation purposes. Using the Autodesk solutions, they claimed to achieve in both limited period and quality output achievement.

Solution

Utilization of 3D modelling of FOB was achieved using Civil3D and REVIT for all concrete components like the foundation, pier, pier cap and staircase foundation detailing. Steel components like the entire superstructure detailing and the staircase connection details was achieved using Advanced Steel. Dynamo scripts were used to produce complex BIM models quickly to conduct necessary structural analysis for the model. It also helped to visualize the project better.

Business outcome

The business outcomes were: 1) Increased productivity of all concerned teams – both inter and intra departmentally; 2) Lesser repetitions and revisions of work; 3) Better coordination and communication leading to improved technical output.

Conclusion

TPF has been utilizing Autodesk solutions for quality outputs both in terms of design and submittal of deliverables with equal focus on presentation and appearance. The 3D models led to better visualization and understanding in further discussions with the client. "The TPF team formed a winning combination with CEINSYS team. They helped us at every turn, listening to our inquiries and requests for support. We couldn't have asked for a better team to work with" Anaya Bhobe, Deputy General Manager
