PDM, AEC and Premium Plan for efficient licensing management and process automation - Forsa
Customer Challenge
Forsa S.A. was in search of a tool that would help optimize from the IT area the management, assignment and usability of the licenses acquired for the development of the company's projects.
Being a company with a presence in several countries, they sought to automate their processes with transversal software in the different headquarters and also centralize the acquisition of Autodesk licensing in a single region, assigning these licenses to the projects that required them regardless of the country where they were used. In addition to this, Forsa S.A. was looking for a tool that would allow them to know which user used which products, how many hours, on which equipment, in order to make efficient decisions on the requirements of new licenses and renewals of existing ones.
Finally, within the objectives of the user area was to seek to implement in their processes technological tools that would allow them to automate, plan, design and manufacture the requirements of their customers in different countries; and from the IT area the objective was to seek a correct use of licensing in the company's equipment.
Project Goals
One of the objectives of Forsa S.A. was to have an increase in sales opportunities through participation in BIM projects, automate the simplification of designs and export the designs that some customers supplied to an Autodesk Revit format.
Another objective, focused on the IT area, was to have full control over the Autodesk licenses handled in the company for the different countries, to know how long a license was used by a user, providing an accurate knowledge that would help validate if the license was well implemented or should be changed or reassigned to another user and know how the use of the collections due to the large amount of software they bring.
And finally, give a correct use to the licenses of the company avoiding replicas of the same product in other different equipment to which the license had been assigned, in addition to helping the IT area to know how their licenses were being used so that in the quarterly meetings they could have a report of use of these and make decisions of movements on the use of these.
Solution
As a solution to the first objective, it was to change the individual licenses to a specialized license such as the PD&M (Product Design & Manufacturing Collection) to be able to have automated and mechanized the designs for the productive part, to have a process that allows them to participate in the BIM requirements was part of this challenge, for this reason they have started with the adoption of the AEC collection of Autodesk (Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection) and Autodesk Docs,
Forsa S.A. was also oriented on the tools and solutions that Autodesk has, which would help improve the performance sought from the management of the license administration console such as the Premium Plan, allowing to consolidate all the licensing of the company in a single administrator and achieving a correct use of each license they have.
Business Outcome
Having special tools such as PDM and AEC has helped to take advantage of the different applications of the collection and connect from concept to production and finally in connection with the customer, adopting shared tools that help streamline the product development process.
On the other hand, due to the large number of users who manage Autodesk tools and with the expansion that the company has in different countries, having the licenses consolidated and managed from a single area allowed to have visibility of the uses, the use of them, the correct installation on a single computer and the use by a single user. In addition, it gives the IT area the advantage of moving licenses between countries and making decisions about new purchases, because now they can know which licenses have more and less use.
Conclusion
The PDM has been the solution to establish automated processes, also implementing the Autodesk AEC collection has allowed to venture into BIM projects, adopting and taking the knowledge of the company to another step, in the way of managing business with customers and that they are recognized in their core business as a company that adopts technology that allows you to understand the customer and generate products in an agile and efficient way.
Additionally, the Premium Plan was the ideal tool for Forsa S.A. in the administration of its licensing park and with the help of MCAD they can always find a trusted ally that helps with constant advice for their requirements and needs.
