Online Training Helps Vestal Corporation Stay Up-to-Speed on Reality Capture Technology

Customer Challenge

“Our leadership team, architects, and engineers were excited about the Leica RTC360 (a new 3D reality capture solution) and eager to use it to support our customers,” said James Huang, IT/Advanced Applications Director, Vestal. “We engaged IMAGINiT to conduct onsite, face-to-face training, to fully understand the capabilities of the hardware and software. The goal of the training was to enable us to deliver outstanding design services and maximize the return on our investment.”

Project Goals

3 goals were set for the training: 1. Proper field practices and data collection methodologies with the RTC360. 2. Efficient data workflow and data management practices to ensure data collected could be used back in the office in their Autodesk solutions. 3. Advanced toolsets to expand and enhance Leica RTC360 use.

Solution

Due to COVID-19, training that is traditionally done on-site had to be reconfigured and delivered online. It's different and somewhat difficult when talking about showcasing a piece of hardware, how it operates, and then working with the data. Using a collaborative tool, IMAGINiT coordinated with Vestal to share content and live demonstrations, collaborate with attendees, and answer all questions. Following the original schedule, 9 Vestal architects and engineers completed the remote training.

Business Outcome

“The remote training went very smoothly,” said James. “Not only did all our employees get the information they needed, we reduced training costs, our company saved a fortune in travel costs, and the time spent away from projects was dramatically reduced.”

Conclusion

Vestal was IMAGINiT’s first RTC360 SmartStart training conducted 100 percent online. Considering the value to Vestal and the possibility that companies may continue to work remotely for a while, IMAGINiT now offers several hardware and software training courses online.
