SUCCESS STORY

Moving into Layout Design in a 3D Tool, Including Review and Interference with 3D Offerings

Customer Challenge

ITC Limited is one of India's foremost private sector companies with a market capitalization of nearly US $ 50 billion (figures as on 31.03.2019). ITC has a diversified presence in FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods), hotels, packaging, paperboards, specialty papers and agri-business. Most of the divisions are still in 2D. They wanted to introduce 3D tools in order to reduce design iterations in the design and manufacturing process, and improve data management and coordination in ongoing projects.

Project Goals

The goals of this project were: 1. Move into layout design in a 3D tool, including review and interference with 3D offerings, and introduce the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection workflows for the Business Units 2. Use BIM 360 tools for collaboration of ongoing projects, upcoming projects undertaken by CPO (Central Projects Office) and the hotels division 3. Consolidation of Autodesk assets for optimize the use with Asset Management from Central ITS (Information Technology Support) Team.

Solution

To reach these goals, we needed wise evaluation of Autodesk 3D tools from the different divisions. We had technical discussions including technical demonstrations, regular technical workshops to impart project level training for respective business units. We aimed to implement BIM 360 for ongoing projects in order to facilitate them across all divisions. Thanks to these solutions, the business owners of the different projects of various business units could now provide insight on BIM 360 Docs.

Business Outcome

There are various business outcomes by implementing this project: 1. Ongoing technical discussion and demonstration of our 3D offerings and workflow presentation 2. BIM 360 Docs already used for a few projects by CPO 3. Regular demonstration in technical workshops to be worked out for the Hotels Division 4. Benefits of central management of all Autodesk assets already discussed with central ITS, and now they are taking up the discussion with divisional ITS Teams

Conclusion

Trisita Engineering implemented BIM 360 Docs to improve the collaboration across business units. After the implementation of this project, ITC Limited teams can now use Inventor Professional for their packaging units.
