Managing Critical Infrastructure Drawings

Managing Critical Infrastructure Drawings

Customer challenge

The Central Arizona Project is a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) critical infrastructure project. The task was to convert a great number of hard copy drawings into CAD Perfect™ AutoCAD files - consistently, securely, and to the Central Arizona Project standards. The Central Arizona Project simply does not have the staff, nor do they wish to hire the staff to convert these drawings into CAD. They have discovered that it is faster, and cheaper to outsource this task to CAD / CAM Services.

Project goals

The goal was to manage 35,000 engineering drawings that manage the entire southwest region's water supply - all in Autodesk Vault. To do this, funding allows the conversion of a certain number of drawings into AutoCAD per year.

Solution

Through the use of Autodesk Raster Design and AutoCAD software, CAD / CAM Services is preparing CAD Perfect™ CAD files for their Autodesk Vault system.

Business outcome

This is a 5-year project, of which we are year three of five. We deliver files weekly.

Conclusion

All hard copy engineering documents will be converted into AutoCAD. Everything is managed by Autodesk Vault. CAD / CAM Services is bringing the Central Arizona Project current, and the Central Arizona Project is keeping the drawings current from then on.
