Made by Gather Connects Global Team with Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage

Customer challenge

Founded in 2003 by entrepreneur Shae Hong, Made by Gather designs and manufactures kitchenware for the modern generation of makers, doers, and achievers who are aspiring to make their kitchen a more special place. Made by Gather brands include Beautiful®, CRUXGG™, CRUX® Kitchen, BRIM® Coffee and BELLA® Housewares, and can be found online and in-store at major retailers nationwide. For years, Made by Gather created and maintained its product development schedules using a different provider’s systems. Those systems had limited accessibility and led to a process that was time consuming, cumbersome, and inefficient.

Project goals

“To increase efficiency, reduce the chance of errors, and continue our pursuit of getting products to market quickly, we determined it was time to look into a technology solution that would allow our teams in Canada and China to easily access the schedules and item data, with the help of Autodesk solutions,” said TJ Ward, Engineering Lab Manager, Made by Gather.

Solution

Made by Gather evaluated several potential solutions and attended a demonstration of Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage (previously called Autodesk PLM 360 software) by a PLM expert from IMAGINiT Technologies, an Autodesk-certified PLM partner in Canada. Made by Gather determined that Autodesk PLM 360 was the right solution for their needs and selected IMAGINiT for the implementation.

“This software is ideal because it is in the Cloud, so all our teams can access it, and it is flexible, so we could start with our high-priority areas and continue to build as we uncover additional needs,” said TJ. “The team at IMAGINiT clearly knew the software and easily demonstrated its features and answered all our questions.”

IMAGINiT’s Solution Includes:

  • Implementing software and training key users on general Autodesk Fusion 360 software functionality through onsite training customized to include Made by Gather’s models, data, and workflows.
  • Building two customized purpose-driven workspacesto accommodate Made by Gather’s specific needs:
    • Product Development Workspace allows for management of projects including notification to team members of due dates and tracking of the progression of projects.
    • Items Workspace provides a database for costing, logistics, and other specific customer information.
  • Creating specialized scripts that enable the two new workspaces to communicate with each other.
  • Providing technical support to support team members as needed.

Business outcome

With Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage up and running, Made by Gather’s product development is now faster, more efficient, and error free. It is used by team members globally across Made by Gather to get the information they need whenever they need it.

Conclusion

“The system is doing exactly what we need it to do,” said TJ. “And its flexibility has already proven incredibly valuable. As we get used to the software, we identify workflows we’d like to change up a bit or even new functionalities we want to add. Then we simply call IMAGINiT. They know us and the software, so they quickly hit the ground running.”

C2AE Trusts IMAGINiT with BIM Management Services

For several years, the Building division within C2AE successfully followed a BIM-management-by-committee approach to making decisions on procedures, standards, and best practices. The company’s designers and engineers would meet in person or online, discuss the options, and determine next steps. As the company’s team grew in size and experience level, coming to a consensus became more difficult. C2AE recognized the need to select one person to be the point person responsible for gathering and evaluating all the opinions and deciding which to select and implement.

Swinterton Delivers Value and Achieves ROI with Leica RTC360 Scanner

When renovating buildings, Swinerton starts with as-built measurements provided by clients. Because those drawings rarely include updates, Swinerton relied on their architects to manually measure spaces, put those measurements into Autodesk Revit, and provide PDFs of the information to the designers, who used them as the starting point for renovations. Swinerton started getting laser scans of structures at the beginning of renovation projects using external companies to perform the scanning. “The laser scanners led to great improvements,” said Matt Zwetzig, VD&C Manager, Swinerton. “Measurements were gathered in a fraction of the time, teams knew they were working with accurate information, plans were created faster, correct parts were ordered the first time, and the parts fit as expected.” With business growing and timelines shortening, Matt determined it was time to compare costs for hiring external providers versus purchasing a scanner and completing the work in house.

Massilly North America Automates Processes with Fusion 360 Manage

In 2015, Massilly North America reached out to Autodesk for support on their product lifecycle management (PLM) software, Fusion 360 Manage (previously known as Autodesk PLM 360), which is critical to the company’s day-to-day operations. Autodesk connected Massilly North America with IMAGINiT, and the IMAGINiT PLM team answered questions on specific issues, consulted on workflow improvements, and shared best practices.
