Efficient Project Meetings & Collaboration with BIM 360 Docs

Customer Challenge

CREAM is committed to meet the strategic needs of Research and Development in the Malaysian construction industry. As their business took off, they aim to diversify affordable housing design and realises the national agenda to provide innovative, sustainable, and tropical climate-based design. Hence, they recognized a need to implement a BIM platform as a medium for coordination, collaboration among team members and submission of project procurement to authority and client. They perceived the necessity of utilizing a tool that allows the industry’s stakeholders to deploy the Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology so that the project can be delivered effectively in terms of time, cost and quality.

Project Goals

CREAM had three key goals in mind by using the Autodesk BIM 360 Docs : Firstly, it is the source new software to enhance the process of design and clash reviews to coordinate the project to ensure the project is being executed accordingly. In addition to that, introducing the cloud storage solutions to ensure the right information can be shared among the project teams. Finally, able to identify areas within the current project management workflow where cost-saving practices could be implemented to reduce the cost of operations.

Following initial consultations to review business needs, 3DTech Parametric quickly set out to onboard and support the CREAM team with their migration to the cloud. The Autodesk BIM 360 Docs was able to offer CREAM a powerful software suite that provided both enhance the process of design and clash reviews to coordinate the project.

Business Outcome

CREAM has gained the following benefits as a result of implementing Autodesk BIM 360 Docs. Firstly, this collaborative cloud software simplifies the project workflow that allows them to provide a framework that will let the project team members such as architects, C&S engineers, MEP engineers & QS delineate the roles and responsibilities of each party. Other positive sides using this Autodesk BIM 360 Docs software are: • Better Coordination and Clash Detection on model • Visualize Projects in Preconstruction • Model-Based Cost Estimation • Mitigate risk during the design stage • Shorten time during the design stage

CREAM was able to optimise the return on their Autodesk BIM 360 Docs investment. They manage to reduce the frequency of meetings since all project stakeholders have been able to monitor the coordination process from the dashboard via Autodesk BIM 360 Docs. They could not have asked for a better team to work with this transition and look forward to collaborating with 3DTech and Autodesk for years to come.
