Consolidation of Worldwide Vault 2020

Customer Challenge

John Zink Hamworthy Combustion, after maintaining a primary Vault Professional server with 9 world-wide replicated servers including 5 separate Vault Databases, decided to consolidate all Vaults into one primary GLOBAL vault, and then re-establish replication around the world. The task would require the standardization of workflows and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes.

Project Goals

John Zink Hamworthy Combustion’s goal, through the Vault Consolidation project, was to simplify the management of their engineering data and information for easier access and sharing through the entire world-wide John Zink Hamworthy combustion engineering community.

Solution

D3 provided Vault solutions and services: 1) Review all current Vault documentation including file structure, securities, lifecycles, categories, mappings, current hardware and network. 2) Evaluate workflow requirements and develop a simple lifecycle and revision scheme that all existing users of Vault can use. 3) Document implementation and training requirements. 4) Develop and document consolidation and data update process, including John Zink Hamworthy Combustion’s resource requirements.

Business Outcome

John Zink Hamworthy Combustion, through engagement with D3 Technologies professional services, was able to consolidate their 5 individual vaults into one primary Global Vault with replicated access around the world. In so doing, they were able to standardize their file structure, securities, lifecycles, categories, mappings, and workflows giving them a uniform engineering process across all worldwide business groups.
