California Based Manufacturer Overcomes Contractor Collaboration Challenges with Vault and Fusion 360
Cloacina is a manufacturer and purveyor of stainless steel package wastewater treatment plants and equipment located on the Central Coast of California. It is owned and managed by a family of licensed operators and maintenance mechanics, now four generations deep. Their core product is the MEMPAC-M membrane bioreactor - a packaged wastewater treatment system for municipal clients who need an immediate treatment solution, those who are budget-conscious but still have to meet stringent discharge requirements, or those with the desire to reclaim treated effluent for reuse. All interior and exterior components are manufactured from high-quality, corrosion-resistant materials, and all tankage and equipment skids are fabricated from stainless steel.
Cloacina has managed their engineering data in Vault Professional for years, but collaborating with outside contractors proved a complicated, time-consuming task. Designers at Cloacina were manually opening files and sending them to contractors
Antenna Manufacturer Boosts Quality and Speed by Optimizing Workflows
This KETIV customer is a leader in their field, producing high performance antenna systems for a diverse set of commercial aviation, defense, and aerospace applications. With over 30 years’ experience, the Director of Programs has a rich background as an experienced, hands-on engineer. It was time to move from a 2D-based design environment to a 3D one, optimizing their design and production processes.
The company wanted to centralize their licensing and create their future designs in a more modern application that could bring updated capabilities to their shop, like upgrading from a 3-axis to a 5-axis CNC.
The company’s high-grade antenna components are subject to extreme environments, so they require very intricate and solid part designs. Several injection-molded parts would require multiple back-and-forth iterations to get the design perfected and reduce defects (i.e. meld lines, sink marks, etc.) where parts were not molded and optimized properly.
Global Leader in Life Science Fluidics Keeps to Project Deadlines with Moldflow
IDEX Health & Science specializes in engineered fluidics systems and components. Their Oak Harbor, WA location is where part testing with simulation plays a crucial role in delivering best-in-class products that meet their many customers' optofluidic needs. Their product development department has been partnered with KETIV and using Autodesk Moldflow since 2014 to troubleshoot problems and address manufacturing challenges.
One project, in particular - a prep scale degasser - had been designed and was moving to production, but once the part was molded and machined into, there were substantial problems. The machining process uncovered significant voids, which caused leaks during the component's usage. The product release had to be put on hold until these issues were resolved and production could continue.
Kheyti Revolutionizing Small Farmer Business with the Help of Fusion 360
Kheyti is a nonprofit organization headquartered in India whose core product is Greenhouse-in-a-Box, a low-cost greenhouse that costs 90% less than the market, protects crops from environmental risks, and grows 7x food with 50x water efficiency. Kheyti offers farmers financing, inputs, advisory, and market linkage services. This integrated solution delivers up to $1,200 additional climate-resilient incomes/year/farmer and 2.5M liters of water savings/farmer.
The designing and engineering for the Greenhouse-in-a-Box were being outsourced to greenhouse design consultants and manufacturers in India, Israel, and America. Kheyti would provide these teams with requirements around temperature control, pest protection, humidity, rain protection, etc. But with outsourcing comes delays and gaps in collaboration, especially when working with a global team. Kheyti needed faster turnaround times to test designs on-site to ensure they were maximizing and evolving their farmer-centric solutions.

P2S Improves Their Workflow and Collaborates Better, Despite COVID-19
P2S turns client dreams into reality with inventive, sustainable solutions fueled by the desire to make the future a better place. The elite team of 250+ engineers and technical staff at P2S Inc. have brought forward-thinking, sustainable engineering solutions to California and beyond for over 30 years.
Clash Detection and Remote Collaboration
The P2S engineering team was experiencing a bottleneck in their workflows. As projects progressed through their lifecycle, they were limited by licensing for Autodesk Navisworks Manage, which directly impacted their efficiency. They only had the bandwidth for one or two people to perform design review across various projects being worked on at any one time.
Then came the disruption of COVID-19. Like many teams across the globe, P2S suddenly found themselves in a position where learning to design and collaborate virtually, from anywhere, was mission critical. They needed a way for everyone to get on the same page – and fast.
ME Elecmetal Establishes a Single Source of Truth with Fusion 360 Manage
ME Elecmetal is a global supplier for mineral processors, striving to help customers increase productivity and reduce downtime by developing the most cost-effective and innovative products and services in the marketplace. With over 100 years of experience, ME Elecmetal is the leading supplier of integrated wear solutions for mining, construction, and industry.
As they continue to grow and scale, ME Elecmetal has its eyes on creating a single source of truth for the organization. They know there is value to solidifying and securing their workflows and assets on a single platform. Because of their global reach, they needed to select a cloud-based platform to standardize upon. They wanted everyone, company-wide, everywhere in the world, at any time, to be able to easily connect to the same information. They needed an advanced Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution.
Nexus3 Stays Nimble with Flexibility Afforded by Fusion 360
Co-founded in early 2020, Nexus3 had the goal to produce end-use parts, tooling, and prototypes largely for aerospace companies. The initial business plan was impacted by COVID-19. With business slowing down in the aerospace industry, Nexus3’s founders knew they needed to switch gears, seeing an opportunity to help protect people against the global pandemic. They quickly decided to temporarily pivot their business to create face shields. This would be a bold step, but the team was determined to adapt and make way for an innovative solution.
Marc Syrkel, Vice President of Engineering said, “We needed a low-cost CAD solution that would allow us to design the face shields, but it also needed to be powerful enough to work for aerospace once we transitioned back to our original plan.”
The team had previous experience using PTC Creo and Solidworks, but were interested in learning more about Autodesk Fusion 360, which they had learned about at a recent MIT Advanced Manufacturing event.
Cactus Varied Industries Reduces Drafting Time by Utilizing the Product Design and Manufacturing Collection
Cactus Varied Industries was looking for a new and dynamic partner to work with to manage their design software. As a division of one of the world’s largest cattle feeding companies, the portion of their business that is focused on cattle feeding is primarily project focused, while the construction equipment portion is centered on mass production. This makes their software needs unique since they require these two business segments to run parallel to one another.
Vault Automation Reduces Manual Tasks and Time to Market for Bauer Compressors
The first step to reaching Bauer Compressors' goal was to speed up their nesting capabilities for sheet metal parts. They implemented a third party nesting solution that they hoped would meet their needs and free up time for laser programmers. However, this new program did not integrate well with their existing Vault infrastructure, which is essential to their designers.
Cleaver-Brooks Uses Automation to Reduce Design Time
Increasing demand for customized designs soon led to Cleaver-Brooks looking into automation to meet market demand. Once a customer had approved a design during the sales planning stage, designers would receive the project to start work on the full design stage: both teams were working independently, with many manual tasks, that caused re-work, and wasted time.
