Custom Revit Template to Improve Project Outcomes
GuernseyTingle is a full-service architecture, interior, and planning firm located in Williamsburg, VA. GuernseyTingle has been using Autodesk Revit for several years, primarily with internal support for Revit standards and content. As business increased for the firm, it created limitations on the amount of time dedicated to keeping their Revit standards up to date. The growth of the company also had other ramifications by limiting available bandwidth to do other model and software management tasks, such as resolving “random” issues in Revit projects and deploying software updates firm-wide.
Using Dynamo to Create a Long-term Solution
DuctSox manufactures custom-engineered commercial and industrial air dispersion products for open ceiling architecture, critical environments, and underfloor applications, and is headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa. DuctSox was using a custom piping program application built on top of AutoCAD to design their custom fabric ducting systems. In their workflow, they were drawing in 3D, then opening and flattening the drawing to export engineering data to a CSV file for production. The application exported data to validate the design while also meeting the requirements of the engineering team for air distribution. They were looking for a replacement for their current custom application, as it was being discontinued. Their current application was also missing a few critical features, including different shapes and size drawings that needed to be added to a new solution.
Custom On-Demand Training to Standardize User Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
McAdams Company is a civil engineering firm located in Durham, NC. As part of their ongoing efforts to provide outstanding projects to their clients, they performed a “health check” regarding their users’ aptitude and comfort with Civil 3D and AutoCAD. During the assessment, they discovered many topics that their users wanted further instruction on, and they also had users at different levels of knowledge. The internal training program portal they had been using was not meeting their needs for flexibility and the creation of custom content. They had also tried one-on-one training before, but they found that without a reinforcement mechanism, it often needed to be repeated multiple times, which was costly.
Technology Process Assessment to Understand Firm Needs
505Design is an architecture and design firm with multiple locations across the United States. The company has been experiencing growth in architect of record services for large mixed-use and multi-family residential projects and is transitioning business processes to be able to more efficiently produce and manage deliverables. Moving away from the previous third-party cloud and virtual workstation service to the Autodesk Construction Cloud provided long-term savings and a more stable environment. As they prepared for this change, they reviewed their projects, workflows, and technology tools and learned that they needed comprehensive updates to account for functional and staffing changes.
Expanding In-House Capabilities with Civil 3D
EDF Renewables Distribution-Scale Power group is a leader in developing and building renewable energy power plants in the continental U.S. The team relies on outside resources to perform surface grading and cut/fill calculations for their solar project sites using Autodesk Civil 3D. They came to Autodesk Solution Provider CADD Microsystems with a desire to establish internal knowledge and processes that would allow them to bring this civil work in-house. They previously worked with CADD to develop AutoCAD standards, which they are effectively using, maintaining, and expanding upon. Given this success, the Distribution-Scale Power team engaged with CADD to standardize their Civil 3D workflows as well.
Getting Started in BIM Collaborate Pro with Quick Start
Noelker & Hull is an architectural design, master planning, and interior design firm with offices in Pennsylvania and Maryland. They wanted to begin using BIM Collaborate Pro as a solution to create more collaborative workflows within their firm and with clients and create a stronger remote work environment. After completing a trial with the software, they decided to move forward with subscribing to BIM Collaborate Pro, and needed assistance with admin setup and user implementation.
Autodesk Build Onboarding
Ferguson Enterprises is a large wholesale supplier of commercial and residential plumbing services located in Newport News, Virginia. Their facilities management group was expanding, and their facility manager came across a challenge. A small team within their group was working with a general contractor on a project, who was using the Autodesk software PlanGrid. The team had not used PlanGrid before and did not have access to the software.
Transitioning to Autodesk Build
A Morton Thomas & Associates (AMT) is a multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy headquartered in Rockville, MD, with 20 offices throughout the eastern US. AMT holds contracts with multiple states in the Mid-Atlantic region to provide construction engineering inspection and construction management of highway construction projects for each state’s respective Department of Transportation. As part of their contract requirements for their Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) contract, AMT had standardized on Autodesk PlanGrid for project and field management. When their current PlanGrid contract was up for renewal, AMT worked closely with CADD Microsystems and Autodesk to ensure that they procured the correct solution to meet their current project requirements and to ensure they had the right solution for the future, as they anticipate the potential future contract requirement changes with their DOT clients.
Project Assistance for Revit As-Built
Montgomery Engineering Group is a civil site development firm located in Winchester, VA, that specializes in engineering, concrete foundation design, and light structural design. They were working on a project that required them to take DWG as-built and translate them into Revit as-built. They did not have a Revit modeler available for the project and needed to have their Revit models updated quickly, in order to meet the project deadline.
Transitioning to Autodesk Build to Increase Communication and Visibility
InstallNET provides professional project management services for the installation of office furniture across the United States and Canada. InstallNET has used PlanGrid for quality reporting and project management. Their subscription to PlanGrid was expiring, and they wanted to explore solutions that could provide more robust capabilities for issues management and improve their overall workflow and efficiency.
Custom Revit Training for MEP and Architecture Needs
Reid Engineering is an Environmental and Civil Engineering consulting firm headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA. Reid Engineering was looking to move from AutoCAD to Revit for piping, tank, and equipment design to be used on projects involving wastewater facilities. This presented a need for a Revit solution using as much of the “out of the box” content as possible, but with some customization to achieve their standards for design and documentation.
Leveraging Revit models to assist with quantity takeoff [QTO] for project estimating
Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) is a REIT, headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, that owns, manages, leases, develops, and selectively acquires office and data center properties. A few years ago, COPT made the investment to transition to Revit and BIM workflows. CADD Microsystems worked with COPT to execute this transition, integrating the unique way the COPT design team would leverage Revit as an owner. COPT had implemented Revit software and BIM workflows in production and wanted to begin leveraging their Revit models to assist with quantity takeoff [QTO] for project estimating. They also wanted to find a way to handle different tenant suites on the same floor within a building, to allow them to isolate and share specific information with tenants.
Company-wide Transition from AutoCAD to Revit
NFD, Inc., a commercial interior design and architectural planning firm, was using AutoCAD Architecture for their projects. To enhance rendering proficiency, teaming opportunities and hiring capabilities, NFD approached CADD about assisting them in transitioning to Revit.
Revit Model Consulting
George Vaeth and Associates (GVA) had a contract with a customer to do a building model using Revit. The customer asked GVA to make significant modifications to the building within a tight timeframe. GVA reached out to CADD Microsystems seeking assistance with making the modifications to ensure they would be completed by the deadline.

They brought CADD Microsystems in as a full-service partner to focus exclusively on BIM management, conducting an external review, providing guidance and recommendations, and executing the subsequent changes, all without disrupting their day-to-day workflow.
Going Beyond the Call for Better Business Outcomes
Eric Colbert & Associates (ECA) is a growing firm that has been using CADD as a full-service partner for more than a decade. When transitioning to Revit, ECA turned to CADD for implementation services and training. CADD’s deep understanding of ECA’s business led to an implementation that went much further than the standard transition from AutoCAD to Revit.
Full-Service Consulting for better BIM Management
Davis, Carter, Scott (DCS) is a long-time customer, and employs an excellent group of tech-savvy people. Our relationship started with the Autodesk products we sold and supported, and when they first began transitioning to Revit, it became a full-service partnership via our services team. DCS recognized the complexity and challenges of the transition, and sought a partnership with CADD to supplement the in-house CAD/BIM management team, who were all actively leading projects.
