External References in AutoCAD
Published on June 10, 2019
External references allow for independent drawings and models to be viewed as overlays in your file. An external reference, or link, updates each time you open your file, or manually through the external reference dialogue box. Linking external references into your drawing not only allows for easy coordination, but also can be used to manage file size or juggle multiple individual users.
