Adding tagging and reinforcing

Add tagging and reinforcing - Exercise

Tagging can be automatic, or you could create a tag on your own – let's do both.

  1. Open Revit then the file MEDICAL CENTER PARKING GARAGE.RVT (or open any Revit project you are working in).
  2. Go to Level 3.
  3. Select the slab.
  4. Click the Area button.

  5. Hover your cursor over any edge on the slab and hit the tab key twice. Once the entire perimeter has become highlighted, pick the edge of the slab your cursor is positioned over.
  6. Zoom in on the middle of the slab – you will see a tag. Select the tag and select Edit Family.

  7. Within the family editor, select the tag that reads Rebar System Layer Summary.
  8. Click the Edit Label button.

  9. Notice that this tag is simply a display that reads a specific parameter.

  10. Click OK.
  11. Close the file by clicking the X on the tab, as shown. Do not save changes if asked.

  12. On the blue file tab, go to New > Annotation Symbol.

  13. Chose Generic Annotation.
  14. Click Open.
  15. Delete the red block of text.
  16. Click the Family category and Parameters button.

  17. Select the category Structural Rebar Tags.
  18. Click OK.
  19. On the Create Tab, click the Label button.

  20. Pick a point as close as possible to the intersection of the two green dotted lines (reference planes).
  21. In the next dialog, add the parameters as shown. Make sure you add a hyphen to the suffix.

  22. Save the file as something that makes sense.
  23. Click Load into Project.

  24. Go to a section and place the tag.
