Creating Design Patterns Using Dynamo

Module

One of the benefits to computational design is the ability to consistently apply design logic across a variety of conditions. One way to do this is through the use of design patterns. A design pattern is a repeatable solution to a common design problem. In this module, we will look at how to create your own design patterns using Dynamo.

Overview

One of the benefits to computational design is the ability to consistently apply design logic across a variety of conditions. One way to do this is through the use of design patterns. A design pattern is a repeatable solution to a common design problem. In this module, we will look at how to create your own design patterns using Dynamo.

This module takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. By the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Define the logic of a design pattern using computational design terms.
  • Generate a pattern sequence using basic Dynamo nodes.
  • Create a sequence of points in Dynamo based on the pattern.
  • Insert a series of Revit families into a model using a list of points.

Module pre-requisites

This module requires user-level knowledge of Dynamo and is focused on best practices and its industry applications. If you don't have experiences with this product, we recommend you to take foundational training using one of the resources below:

Before you start

  • Please make sure you have the Dynamo software loaded.
