Maximizing productivity of 2D design with AutoCAD Mechanical
Module

This module focuses on geometry and object creation for your future 2D designs including the differences vs. AutoCAD, objects vs. lines, component generators and other powerful tools that can significantly speed up your design process.

2D to 3D: Overview
Module

This is the first module in our series on 2D to 3D transition and data reuse. Most designs are done in 3D, but a lot of data remains in the 2D state and it does not find use it deserves. In this series, you will learn why and how to use your 2D data in 3D.

In this module, you will learn the following skills:

  •  List the key industry drivers in mechanical design
  •  Explain the benefits of 3D modeling for Mechanical Engineers and Designers
  •  Understand the key capabilities of Inventor

Identify suitable 2D data for use in Inventor
Module

This module will help you identify suitable 2D data that can be used to generate 3D models within Inventor. It also provides an introduction to the 3 workflows you can use in a 2D to 3D scenario.​

Adding depth to your existing 2D designs
Module

Most designs are done in 3D, but a lot of data remains in the 2D state and it does not find the use it deserves. In this series, you will learn why and how to use your 2D data in 3D.

In this module, you will learn the following skills:

  • Copy and paste from .dwg to model sketch
  • Insert .dwg to model sketch
  • Import .dwg into a part file.

Annotate and Share 3D Models
Module

In this module, you will learn how to annotate a model, share it, analyze tolerance and relationships in an assembly, and then share the annotation.

Create Detailed 3D Annotations
Module

In this module, you will learn to define feature datums, add tolerance ranges, place surface callouts, and rewind the tolerance adviser.

Share 3D Annotations
Module

In this module, you will learn how to share annotation files, view the files, export CAD data, and then use the annotation in a 2D drawing.
