Customizing the Display Settings of Revit Links.
00:05
In this video, we're going to customize the display
00:07
setting of our Revit link, and then
00:10
override what is showing in the linked view.
00:14
I'm working in the small Medical Center in the 01 Ground Floor
00:17
HVAC plan.
00:20
When you're working in a project,
00:21
there are times that you need to see some elements
00:23
and certain views that you don't need and others.
00:26
Let's say for example, you need to see
00:29
the case work and the architectural plan
00:31
to make sure that the exhaust air terminals are
00:33
in the right place in the room.
00:36
So, I'm going to zoom in on the exam rooms
00:39
where this is most critical.
00:42
To change the linked view to show the casework,
00:45
I'm typing VG to open the visibility graphic overrides
00:50
dialog box, and then I'm going to select the Revit Links tab.
00:56
For the architectural link, I'm going
00:58
to click on the button in the display settings column.
01:01
And now, instead of just by linked view,
01:05
I'm going to change this to custom.
01:08
Now, all the options in the basics tab are available.
01:13
These options include the linked view as we saw before, but also
01:18
other settings you may want to change,
01:20
such as view filters, the view range, fazing,
01:27
detail level, discipline, color fills, objects dials,
01:34
and nested lengths.
01:36
Some of these I can change to by host view, such as the view
01:40
filters, as well as the view range.
01:45
Others, I can specify more information,
01:48
such as a detail level, which I can set to by host view.
01:52
But I can also specify a specific detail level.
01:56
The same is true for the disciplines.
02:04
You'll also notice that the model categories
02:07
tab and annotation categories tabs are available.
02:11
When I click on this, you can see that by linked view,
02:15
and all of the categories are shaded gray.
02:18
The same is true with the annotation categories.
02:22
Notice also that show annotation categories in the view is off,
02:26
that means they are not showing at all in those linked view.
02:31
I'm flipping back to model categories tab
02:33
because this is where I want to make the change.
02:36
First, I select by the linked view and switch this to custom,
02:42
and I can now make changes in the visibility.
02:46
I'm going to select casework, and click OK to get out
02:51
of all the dialog boxes.
02:56
And you can see that the overall information of the linked file
02:60
still remains the same, but the category casework
03:03
is now displaying.
03:05
I could now rework the location of the exhaust air terminals
03:10
so they are closer to the case work if needed.
03:14
When I'm done, I'm going to go back
03:16
into the visibility graphic overrides
03:19
and change the display settings of the linked view
03:24
back to by linked view.
03:28
I'm warned that this will remove all my customization settings.
03:32
I want to do this, so I click OK.
03:36
And now, I'm back in my standard view with no casework.
