Detailing Structural Models - Steel
In this course, you learn the interoperable workflows between Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Advance Steel. We start by downloading the Autodesk Advance Steel Extension for Autodesk Revit and using it to export the structural BIM data from Revit. We then use that BIM Data in Advance Steel to finish the structural model and create its documentation and BOMs. Finally, we synchronize the Revit model by importing fabrication level steel sections and connections from Advance Steel.
Course modules
Autodesk Revit is the software that most Structural Engineers and Designers prefer to design structural BIM data. However, the steel detailers prefer Advance Steel to detail and document structural design because of the smart set of detailing and documentation tools in it. In this module, you learn how to get Revit ready to exchange structural BIM data with Advance Steel. You then export the structural BIM data from Revit. Finally, you import the structural BIM data into Advance Steel.
Modeling and detailing of the structural designs require specialized tools so you can model and generate a standard set of documents. To do this, Advance Steel provides specialized tools that you can customize based on your company requirements.
To deliver structural BIM data with LOD 400 or above elements, you need all steel sections and connections modeled to fabrication level. To do this, you can synchronize the Revit design model with fabrication level Advance Steel model and import sections and connections.
