Create and Simulate Factory Layouts Using Factory Design Utilities and ProModel
This course will demonstrate the development of 2D and 3D factory layouts using Autodesk Factory Design Utilities and how the performance of proposed facilities can be evaluated using ProModel. Beginning in AutoCAD, you will utilize the 2D representation and/or PointCloud of the existing facility and begin to develop the machinery layout using the Factory Asset Library previously developed in Inventor. Iterations of the proposed operations layouts can be synced to ProModel to evaluate the performance of production cycles.
Having completed this course, you will be able to:
- Develop a 2D factory layout using AutoCAD with Factory Design Utilities
- Automatically sync to Inventor to obtain a 3D representation of the facility layout
- Create a production simulation using ProModel
- Analyze performance results and implement layout improvements

The overall goal of this module is to demonstrate the development of 2D and 3D factory layouts by leveraging assets from the Autodesk Factory Design Utilities. In this module, you will learn how to create a 2D layout in AutoCAD using references to divide the overall layout into logical zones. It will also demonstrate how to use the Factory Design Utilities and the Asset Browser to locate layout components and generate conveyor chains. Finally, you will learn how to sync the layout to Autodesk Inventor to generate a complete 3D model, as well as sync back to 2D to amend the layout in AutoCAD.
This module will demonstrate how to create a process simulation for an existing factory layout using ProModel Simulation. These workflows help to bridge the gap between factory layouts designed using Factory Design Utilities in AutoCAD and Inventor and ProModel's powerful simulation capabilities.
This module will illustrate how production performance insights can be gathered for an existing factory layout in ProModel and Process Simulator. It will also demonstrate how various layout scenarios can be evaluated to determine what changes have the greatest impact on efficiency and throughput.
